Are there real work at home jobs? Yes there are some, but, they are not nearly as plentiful as you would think considering the amount of interest there is in working from home. They are also difficult to find.
However, there are companies that hire for work from home jobs and you can find work at home job listings online.
Job seekers who are interested in home employment need to spend a good deal of time searching for legitimate opportunities, as well as a significant amount of time weeding through scams.
Getting Started Working at Home
Many people who work from home started out working in an office, but, were able to arrange with their employer to work some or all of time at home. I have an acquaintance who relocated to Washington, DC. Her employer decided to enable her to work from home, rather than losing a valuable employee. I have another acquaintance who works part-time from the office and part-time from home in order to accommodate her children's school schedules. My sister-in-law schedules home nursing care visits from home. In those cases, employees, who had already proven themselves to be valuable to their employer, were able to negotiate flexible work schedules.
Companies That Hire Work From Home Employees
There are companies that hire employees directly to work from their homes. Check the sites that list work at home jobs. Some these positions are those where you cover a territory, for an insurance company or a consumer products, for example, and spend some time on the road and some time in your home office. There are also customer service, recruiting, sales, scheduling, technical, writing, and telemarketing jobs available. In many cases, the jobs are part-time, commission-based, or pay a lump sum for a completed project.
In other cases, you can work as a home based agent where you are an employee of the company who works from a home office, providing customer service to client companies. Virtual assistants provide administrative, secretarial, and clerical support, as well as creative and/or technical services for clients.
Work at home transcriptionists are usually independent contractors who transcribe and edit recorded reports onto their home computer. Online tutors work for internet based companies that offer help, within a variety of subject areas, to students of all ages.
If you're looking to make a little extra money, paid surveys are a possibility, but do be careful about avoiding scams.
Full-time jobs that provide health insurance, a pension, vacation, and other benefits while you work full-time from home, especially if you don't have experience, are few and far between. Finding them online is a little like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Be Flexible
Flexibility is one key to successfully working from home. If you are willing to consider freelance or contract employment or willing to combine a couple of part-time positions, you'll have a greater chance of success in finding opportunities that are legitimate. It's also critically important to take the time to search for positions and to thoroughly research those that sound viable.

HOW TO MAKE MONEY WRITING ONLINE JOBS

One of the legitimate ways to make money from home now that everyone is connected to the Internet is by writing online. Depending on how much you need to call it a full time income, it seems there is more and more need for writers. When you think of all the possible jobs from home, writing online is one of the ones that stands out as a real possibility, if you are good at it.
Info Barrel is a relatively new site that you can make money from and you can do it all for free. There are no sign up fees or membership fees here, and it seems like the more work you but in the more money you could stand to make. Anyone can sign up and anyone can start making money: all you need is a Google Adsense account which is also free.
Info Barrel is sort of like Squidoo in that you make your own “Info Barrels” about any topic you want to. Whatever your interests are, you can make an Info Barrel about it. You can insert pictures, video, or whatever you desire if you so choose to make your barrel look better but the real thing you want to happen is to get readers.
Info Barrel is a profit sharing site and they will give you 75% of the Adsense ad impressions that pop up when people are reading your material and that is how you make money. The more people that read your barrels, the more people that will presumably click on the Adsense ads. I know someone that has over 100 of these Info Barrels and plans to make 1000 of them eventually. This is one good way you can make money writing online and it is all free. You will never be asked for money or have to buy anything.
The skill in making money here is to be able to write about topics that are hot and/or pick ones that have good keywords with little competition. Info Barrel is a site which is gaining authority every day and that means that every one of the user written “barrels” has a better and better chance of ending up near the top of Google’s search results. For competitive keywords you will probably make very little and for less competitive keywords you will get more views.
The best thing to do if you don’t know how to to keyword research (and few people do), is to put up a bunch of Info Barrels all on different subjects and see which ones start to get traffic. Those people who have tons of them have ones on all subjects imaginable and they get a wide variety of traffic. Writing online jobs are out there if you know where to look and this is one way you can take advantage of your writing skills and not risk anything other than your time.
There are no easy ways to make money online. Everything that is worthwhile is going to require some work and dedication. The stock market has depleted a lot of people’s retirement accounts forcing many to work past the usual retirement age. Actually the big problem is that many WANT to continue working past retirement and can’t because they are considered too old or they are getting laid off. Anyone who is in their 60’s is having a very tough time keeping their job and if needed, finding new employers that will hire them. Companies want to hire young workers and not old ones.
This is leaving a lot of senior citizens in a bad position because they don’t have enough to retire on and they want to keep working. What they are looking for are good jobs for retirees that will either help out with the bills or provide a full time income. Adding to the problem is the fact that the older you are, the less physical a job you will be able to do. This world is truly for the young and we are seeing that like never before.
Be Your Own Boss and Work At Home
It seems that making money and starting a small online business would be a perfect thing for many retirees to do. I’m not taking about online get rich schemes and Google jobs scams that are so prevalent on the web. I am talking about learning how to make money a step at a time and working hard at it. After all, it can be done and it is certainly easier than digging ditches.
Before the Internet came along, a person needing money or a job had no alternative other than to go outside the house and look for someone who would hire them. But now you don’t need to get hired as you can learn on your own how to make money online and turn it into any one of a number of work from home jobs.
It is extremely important to note that you will have to work to succeed online. If you are not willing to work and put in the time to learn, you will NOT succeed. The title of my post was about “jobs for retirees” and if you are not willing to work and turn it into a job, your chance of success is slim. It amazes me the number of people that either think that everything online is a scam or they think that it is really easy to make money on the Internet. In fact, neither is true because there are many ways to make money that are not scams but you do have to work at them to make money. The Internet is not a slot machine.
How Do You Get Started?
Everyone gets started different ways and many end up quitting and giving up. I was convinced I would succeed but I needed to know it all wasn’t a scam too. I started with CashCrate (see my CashCrate review) and after I got my first check I realized it was possible to make money online. I have since learned how to make more and more with them.

You do not have to accept these ridiculously low rates to get started as an online writer, thankfully.
If you’re not interested in browsing the freelance bidding sites for the handful of good projects posted among hundreds of not-so-good ones, you can try a few other methods for building a client base.
A good way to start is to approach new media marketing companies, like Trace Media Marketing, and offer to write articles for their clients. New media marketing companies, SEO services, and web designers all have the same target customer base as an online writer – people who hire online marketing companies, SEO or web designers will have a need for articles, blog posts, press releases and other online content. You may be able to work out an exchange of services with the companies you partner with – either offer a commission for their referrals or provide them with discounted or free writing services for their own needs.
You may also want to look at companies who deliver work to writers on a consistent basis. Companies like DemandStudios.com and Textbroker.com accept writers into their program and offer virtually unlimited articles to write. Writers select the topics they want to write about, complete and submit the articles for payment. Working for this type of organization allows you to get right to the writing and spend less time searching for clients – but if you rely on one service exclusively, you may find yourself starting over again if that website goes out of business since you haven’t established any of your own clients.
Writing online for money is a great way to supplement your income or for some business-minded individuals, it can become a full-time career.

Those ads all lead to something like Scott’s Money Blog which is a fake one page blog with fake testimonials, fake comments and a fake Scott Hunter. Other ads lead to landing pages that look like the first page of some newspaper or magazine site. They give a lot of fake stories and then lead you to buy a “Google” money making kit or system. They all say you can work from home for Google like it is a real legitimate authorized job. Well, it isn’t and these Google jobs blogs are scams.
All these fake blogs (called flogs) are there to trick you into buying some unauthorized Google money system or Google Home Biz Kit. They make it sound like you will be working for Google posting links and they make it sound oh so easy. Scott will say he makes $9,000 per month and there is a picture of him together with his bride and it is all false. They even have these ads so that his bio reads that he is from the same city as you are and they do that by reading your IP address that can identify where you are connecting to the Internet from.
Posting links on Google is NOT a work at home jobs option and it is nothing like what they make it seem. What you will be required to do after paying money to them is to figure out how to put your own Adwords campain up on Google (which you will have to pay more for and if you don’t know what you are doing you can lose your shirt) and hope people click on your ads and buy some crap that you will then be selling. Even worse, once you give your credit card for the low $1.97 shipping for your “kit”, you will then be charged some outrageous MONTHLY FEE of $79.99 or $49.99 or whatever the particular ad says! Then you will have to get on the phone and try to get your “membership” cancelled.
It is all very dishonest because they make it sound like it is part of Google and you will be working for Google and it is authorized by Google when in fact NONE OF THAT IS TRUE! They could have called it the “Yahoo work from home jobs” or ”post links on Bing and make up to $397 per day” and in fact that is probably what they will do next.
This is the latest craze of dishonesty that has swept the web and it is obviously paying off because these ads are everywhere. There are no stay at home Google jobs and you can’t make money posting links like they want you to believe so please steer clear of the Google jobs scam.

When I started trying to make money online over 2 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I spent about a year totally wasting my time at different places like the Warrior forum and Digital Point forum and in the end, I was more confused than ever. If you are looking to make money at home for free by writing, you might look into the opportunity at Examiner.com.
